Origami YouTube Yoodle
Delicate stop motion mixed media animation for YouTube.
Kaho was invited by Youtube to craft a 'yoodle' celebrating the art of origami, and honouring the legacy of artist Akira Yoshizawa the 'grandmaster' of origami.
In Kaho's signature stop motion mixed media style she showcases the delicate and intricate nature of origami, bringing to life some of the most iconic designs.
Concept
Crafting a tribute to Yoshizawa's dedication towards origami being recognised as an art form, Kaho took great care and attention to showcase the detail within every fold of the paper.
Using her signature mix of stop motion/3D with 2D animation, Kaho aimed to show the process of how a small piece of origami paper becomes a beautiful sculpture. Alongside the Yoodle animation, Kaho also crafted a vibrant promotional visual for the YouTube home screen.

Design
Animating the origami folding process in stop motion, Kaho rigged each of the three classic origami designs, a flower, a boat and a crane to capture their individual movements. Once the stop motion animation had been completed, Kaho applied her signature 2D animated elements on top to add further character and life to the scenes, from butterflies to waves and clouds.
