Paris Paralympics

Dynamic and energetic design for the Paralympic Games.

Working with the teams at Kreatives and the Paris Paralympic Games, Alva and Boomranng crafted designs as part of a collective of illustrators entrusted with depicting the range of sporting events, some of which are being broadcast on television for the first time. As the nuances of some events are new to audiences, the brief was to craft designs that when animated as explainer videos would showcase the sport in an energetic and engaging way.

Alva’s signature vision that plays with scale and challenges perceptions of gender and identity paired seamlessly with the values of the Paralympics, showcasing the powerful athletes who take part in the shooting and athletics events.

'What excited me most about this brief was the opportunity to draw action packed images with dynamic perspectives to illustrate the sports and these amazing athletes in the way they deserve! Also, that I got to illustrate all the cool gear. Dream job!'

Boomranng had the task of translating all the energy and excitement of wheelchair basketball and the newly broadcast goalball. Boomranng brought their energetic style to the brief, with a love for depicting powerful and inclusive people on the move their illustration style perfectly complimented the empowering values of the Paralympics.

'It was an absolute honor to be part of a team of 11 illustrators from all around the world for such an exciting and meaningful project. We love working on projects that are inclusive and diverse and we were especially excited because we got to learn so much about these sports, which rarely get the spotlight. We put a lot of love and care into creating these diverse characters with technical accuracy while maintaining our style within the given color palette.'
