HelloWork

Laura crafted a series animated short films for Hellowork which aims to assist people in finding jobs, showcasing the ease of their platform through characterful design. A two campaign series with the brand and co-directed with Device, Laura designed and expanded the worlds of three vibrant and charming characters.

Infused with soft, rounded elements the films are lighthearted and warm, incorporating a stop-motion influence to the design, a trademark of Laura’s animation style.

Brief

Approached to create three distinct characters and build worlds around them, the HelloWork series of films explores the common pitfalls when searching for jobs. Created to also announce the merge of several job search sites into what is now known as HelloWork, this series marks the establishment of a visual style and ethos.

Acting as co-director, art director and 3D modeller for the campaign, Laura brought to the films her passion for modern and soft 3D aesthetics.

Design

Quirky characters come to life in the HelloWork series where the three characters each have their own unique personalities and design, with bold and exaggerated movements.

Simplicity was key for the concept and environment design, with Laura bringing to life a warm and welcoming office atmosphere combining realistic props with exaggerated textures to enhance the 3D toy-like feel of the space.

Embodying the character’s distinct personalities within their design, Laura crafted each of them with their own set of quirks reflected in their design, with great attention given to the texture of their skin and hair, creating a tactile contrast between the plastic, toy-like style of their environment and clothing.
