Creativity for Sale Podcast
Chris and Nicki join Radim Malinic to discuss how to adapt and thrive in the ever-changing world of illustration.
"Sometimes you can find yourself through replicating styles or that kind of exploratory play. This is the point I always come back to - and other agents might think differently - but for me, it’s absolutely the guide thing when I’m looking at work - just something that feels unique and true to you. Because I tell you what - an AI generator’s not going to be able to do that. That is your guiding North Star; trying to figure out who you are as a creative. There is a place for everyone in this industry. You don’t have to just be this to be very successful and have a viable creative income and career."
Nicki Field"As you move higher up the chain [towards brands], your business model has to change because you have to look for new business and market yourself to completely different people than you were doing even pre-pandemic, even that recently, it’s changed that fast. The market’s always changing. All these things are either strengthening you or undermining you and you have to be aware of that all the time. You have to have your radar switched on. And I think that has been our strength. In the middle of it, we know who we are. You have to maintain your own culture and be aware that everything around you is changing all the time."
