Joy Soldiers

'Joy Soldiers' is Black Childish's first solo exhibition which explores the intersection of pop culture, Caribbean culture, and youthful nostalgia in the form of expressive 3D sculptures. Encouraging the audience to engage with the themes of identity and self-expression, Joy Soldiers marks the beginning of a series of bold and unique characters.⁠

On display in the Netherlands, and drawing on his love of crafting colourful and playful narratives through his work, Black Childish transforms classic green toy soldiers into sculptural characters that, rather than convey messages of war, embody themes of joy, unity and pride.
